Course overview
This module facilitates clinical mammography training. In combination with Mammography Theory it fulfils the requirements for the College of Radiographers Postgraduate Award in Mammography (for UK based Practitioners only). This module is suitable for Practitioners working within the National Health Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP), symptomatic clinics and the private sector.
Available as a standalone module: Yes. Please apply for PgCert Mammography if also studying AHP_7_123 Theoretical Principles of Breast Care.

Students who successfully complete both Mammography Theory and Practice modules (this module and Theoretical Principles of Breast Care (AHP_7_123)):
- Will be able to competently practice in the field of Mammography.
- Will be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography.
- Will be eligible for the College of Radiographers’ Postgraduate Award in Mammography

There is a 2 year completion duration:
- EX1: Online exam
- CW1: Portfolio

- Critically analyse the impact of quality assurance on the production of high quality mammograms.

- Reflect critically on the clinical practice of mammography.

Prerequisites
- Students should normally be a qualified, registered Radiographer (e.g. HCPC registration) working within a Breast Imaging Department or regularly rotating through a Breast Imaging Department.
- Student support for studying at Masters level is to be discussed with the pathway advisor. Students who have not previously undertaken study at academic Level 7 (Masters level) are advised to consider the workshop: Preparation for Masters Level Study, which can be found on the CPPD prospectus.
